The American Math Olympiad (AMO) is an international mathematics competition for middle and high school students, jointly organized by SIMCC and Southern Illinois University (SIU). AMO promotes the importance and deeper understanding of mathematics. The competition is open to all students in grades 2 through 3 and is based on the US Common Core Standards. A group of top educators from Southern Illinois University, with extensive knowledge and experience in the Common Core Math curriculum, create unique tests to challenge students while fostering their interest in mathematics. Some of the key benefits of AMO include college scholarships, the Global Scholars Program, membership in the International Junior Honor Society (IJHS), tuition subsidies, and internships.
